Pup Card: a shareable card with your dog's personality
The Pup Card is a picture of your dog with a playful personality type, age, weight and the resting breaths per minute you counted yourself. Okaypup builds it at the end of setup after a four-tap quiz, and exports it in 9:16 for stories or 1:1 for posts.
Coming soon to iPhone
How is the card made?
Setup asks for a name, an optional photo, breed and age. Four tap questions about your dog's temperament follow. Then you tap once per breath for 30 seconds while your dog rests, and the app reveals the card.
What personality types are there?
Sixteen, from The Mayor and The Party Starter to The Velcro Philosopher, The Quiet Detective and The Zen Master. Each has a one-line description and three traits. They are labeled just for fun, make no claims about behavior or health and are for entertainment only.
How do I share it?
Tap Pup Card in the middle of the tab bar, choose a style and a format, then tap Share. The iOS share sheet takes it from there. Save image puts it in Photos when you ask.
Every card has a code. A friend who scans it lands in the quiz for their own dog.
- Tap Pup Card in the tab bar.
- Pick a style and a format: Story 9:16 or Square 1:1.
- Tap Share or Save image.
When do new cards appear?
Milestone cards come after events such as a birthday, gotcha day, 100 walks, a first month with Okaypup, a 7-day log streak or 30 good days. Okaypup asks once per moment and does not repeat the prompt.
What is free?
The free plan includes one card style in both formats, Story 9:16 and Square 1:1, so you can make and post a card without paying. The breath count, the personality type and the share sheet are free too. Plus adds the other five styles and the milestone cards.
Who is it for?
Owners who like sharing their dog and friends who want to try the quiz for their own. It is entertainment, not a behavior assessment. For a longer take on the idea, read dog personality types.
What does the card look like?
The dog's photo in an illustrated frame, the type name, a one-line description, three traits and stat chips for age, type, weight and counted breaths per minute. A footer invites viewers to make a card for their own dog and carries a QR code and a link.
How does the 30-second breath count work?
Wait until your dog is resting or asleep. Tap the circle each time the chest rises. The timer runs for 30 seconds, the app doubles the taps into breaths per minute and saves the number to your dog's history. If no taps are counted, nothing is saved.
If your dog is on the move, choose the skip option. The card then reads that the measurement can come later, and you can count again from the Health tab.
What are the six styles?
The styles are Sun, Leaf, Sky, Ember, Paper and Night. One style is free, and the others show a Plus label until you have Plus. Every style carries the same content: the photo in a frame, the type name, three traits, the stat chips and a footer with a QR code.
How do I take a photo that works on the card?
- Shoot at your dog's eye level, not from above.
- Use daylight near a window.
- Fill the frame with the face and leave a little room above the head.
- Pick a plain background so the frame art stands out.
- Take three and keep the one where the eyes are sharp.
What happens to my milestones?
Me > Milestones lists the badges you have earned out of the total. Tap an earned badge and the app opens that card so you can share it. Milestone cards are part of Plus.
How is it different from an online quiz?
The card is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send it.
| Pup Card | Web quiz | |
|---|---|---|
| Uses your dog's photo | Yes, in an illustrated frame | Usually not |
| Includes a number you counted | Breaths per minute | No |
| Formats | Story 9:16 and Square 1:1 | A screenshot |
| Account needed | No | Often |
What does the card not say?
The card makes no claim about your dog's health or behavior. The breaths number is the count you did at rest, shown without any scale or verdict. The type is a joke written to be flattering. If you share the card publicly, you decide what else goes in the post.
Can I make more than one card?
Yes. Add each dog in Me > Dogs and each gets a card. The free plan holds one dog, and Plus lifts that limit. You switch dogs with the avatar at the top of each tab.
When does the app ask me to share?
Okaypup offers to share at two moments: when the first card is revealed and when you earn a milestone. Each moment is offered once. There are no repeated nudges and no reminders about sharing, and you can close the offer without sharing.
Can I save the card without posting it?
Yes. Save image puts the card in your Photos app when you tap it, and the app asks for permission to add photos only then. Plenty of owners keep the card as a keepsake and never post it.
